The Medication Aide Training Program for Nursing Homes, approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON), prepares individuals to safely administer medications under the supervision of licensed nurses in long-term care facilities.

Program Overview

  • Length: 24 Hours of classroom and skills training

  • Approval: NC Board of Nursing Approved

  • Purpose: Prepares students to administer oral, topical, and instilled medications in nursing homes while following legal and ethical guidelines

Requirements

  • Completion of a 24-Hour NC Board of Nursing–Approved Medication Aide Training Program

  • Successful completion of the Medication Aide Examination

  • Listing on the NC Medication Aide Registry upon passing the exam

  • Program Tuition$408.00

    • Covers course instruction and training materials

  • Application Fee$125.00

    • Includes registration and study guides

  • Examination Fee – Paid separately to the NC Board of Nursing testing provider
